Greywater refers to all types of wastewater that contain soap, detergents, oils, and other non-biodegradable compounds. It is commonly generated from sources such as showers, bathtubs, sinks, kitchens, dishwashers, laundry tubs, and washing machines. Greywater constitutes the largest portion of household wastewater by volume, typically making up 50-80% of the total wastewater. In cases where a composting toilet is used, all household wastewater is categorized as greywater.
There are two ways of treating grey wastewater
- Aerobic treatment (Mechanised treatment) - Inorganica
- Anaerobic treatment (Natural treatment) - Constructed Wetland
